The International Judo Federation has banned iran when it arranged Saeid Mollaei to pull out of their World Championships in Japan.
Defending champion Mollaei calls to withdraw from his game against the Khasan Khalmurzaev of Russia to prevent the possibility of confronting the Sagi Muki later in the championship of Israel.
Athletes are prohibited from competing in any sport against Israel.
Mollaei lost in the semi-finals and has been residing in Germany.
Before in 2019the National Olympic Committee of Iran had said it would comply with all the Olympic charter and the International Judo Federation (IJF), paving the way for European athletes to compete against Israelis.
However, the IJF said Iran’s activities in the World Championships in Japan have been a”gross contradiction” to those assurances.
The case was known to the IJF Disciplinary Commission, who said there was a”powerful reason to think that the Iran Judo Federation will endure to engage in misconduct or commit some offence against the valid interests, principles or aims of the IJF”.
Iran can appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against the decision.
After the championship Mollaei stated he feared for his family’s security.
Speaking to the BBC Persian Service before this week, he said:”Back in Tokyo I left the arena with tears in my eyes.
“I won’t ever forget what happened there. I might have attained my world championship trophy and my next gold medal. I was ready and prepared for it.”
